How to Create Palettes in Canva

I have been taking a lot of online classes lately on how to better build my business. Like most of us creative types, we strive to quit our 9-5 jobs and to finally be able to say “oh yeah, I love my job!”
One of my goals for this year was to better educate myself. I only have my Associate’s Degree in marketing, and I got that degree almost 10 years ago! Things have definitely changed since then, I feel like they change daily to be honest. There are a lot of FREE (no, that isn’t a typo) classes and webinars that are designed to keep you up to date on all things social media, marketing, and web content creation.
The very first class I took was on how to brand your business. My biggest obstacle was deciding how I wanted my brand to be perceived. Did I want bold colors, or something lighter. I spent an entire Saturday going through color swatches and hated every single one of them.
I have used Canva previously to make my graphics for my social media accounts but it wasn’t until recently that I discovered that you can create your own palettes. Talk about game changer! Canva allows you to upload an imagine and create a palette from it. This is perfect for branding your business. You want your customers (or followers) to know exactly who you are when they see your images on social media accounts. This is an important tactic that marketers use to create consistency. You want your follows to know an image belongs to you before they click on it. There are a lot of bloggers out there that do this really well. Check out your favorite bloggers, I am sure you will notice their brand right away!
I highly recommend creating a Canva account for your business/blog. The basic account is free, and trust me there isn’t anything basic about it. You can create palettes, images for social media, even email headers and signatures. I used it to create an email signature for my 9-5 and I got a lot of compliments on it.
Follow the link above to the palette generator. All you need to do is upload an image, hit submit and BOOM, there is your palette.
I have also created a board for color inspiration. Come check it out for inspiration and some really awesome color combinations perfect for websites, social media accounts, and even drawings and paintings.
If you use Canva to create palettes, or any other designs I would love to see! Use #unlockedcolors so I can see what you are up to.
