Goal Setting

I know, you are tired of seeing everyone on social media saying things like “new year, new me” or “this is the year I am going to do ____”. I hear you! I often find myself making unrealistic new year’s resolutions that I never finish, sometimes I don’t even attempt them. This year I told myself that instead of new year’s resolutions I would make monthly goals to keep myself in check. I usually suck at goal setting. I either make way too many goals to try and attempt or I get lazy and never finish what I started. This.Stops.Now.
On the first of the year I created an awesome goal mapping sheet for January. I added the categories of the types of goals I wanted to set (such as personal, or health) and then under each of them I outlined the specifics. I sat down that morning with a cup of a coffee and a brand new journal and wrote down everything that I wanted to accomplish this month. Instead of creating one main resolution I felt like it would be more productive if I made a set of monthly goals to keep my mind focused and not give myself the chance to feel overwhelmed, which I have to say happens a lot to me.

Less than one week in and I have to say I feel good about the goals I have set for myself. I started working out again (and my legs are not thanking me), eating better and journaling every day. I have put my goals beside my bed so I can see them when I wake up and before I go to sleep so I am always reminded of the things that I would like to accomplish. Life is hard. We have work and kids to deal with. When we come home from work all we want to do is sit in front of the tv with a glass of wine until it is time to go to bed. There is nothing wrong with doing that once in awhile, but life goes by way too fast to not do the things we have always wanted to do. We have novels to write, paintings to finish, crafts to create and bodies to build. That is not going to happen if we don’t push ourselves. I know it is hard, I have been there so many times. This time however I am choosing to do something different. I am making it my mission to complete my novel by the time I am thirty. I am finally going to get off my lazy butt and get into shape once and for all. One day my Etsy page will start producing sales. I am not expecting these things to happen over night, but each day I will push myself to head in the right direction.
I have attached a PDF of my January goals sheet for you to upload. If you do please use the hashtag #unlockedcolors so I can see you goals and how you are crushing them this month!
