DIY Herb Markers

I love growing my own vegetables and herbs. It always reminds me of growing up with my grandparents and the gardens that they had.

I usually plant everything around Mother’s Day but with all the rain we have been getting here on the east coast, I was a little late this year. This gave me some extra time to really plan out my garden this year. If you follow me on Instagram (@unlockedcolors) I used my iPad this year with the Goodnotes app to plan everything out.

I have wanted to create herb markers for a couple of years, but never had the time.I found some old plastic ones in my shed along with some wood shims and decided to see what I could create using them. I was surprised at how well they turned out!

You can use practically anything for these herb markers. I have seen popsicle sticks, scraps of weeds and even rocks used to create them. All you really need is something to place in the ground and some paint to decorate. I do suggest spraying whatever you create with a clear coat so it doesn’t wash away with the rain. I learned that the hard way!

I used some chalk paint in grey, and a white chalkboard marker just to keep things simple. The sky is really the limit with these. I may try some fancier ones later on in the summer, so of course I will be posting them on my social media accounts.

Use the #unlockedcolors if you try this simple DIY. I would love to see what you are up to!
