For this installment of Art Journal 101 I am going to go in detail about how I used Tombow Dual Brush Pens.
These pens are one of the first pens I used when I started hand lettering, and I was surprised to find out that I can use them for much more than that!
I have discussed using them to create watercolor backgrounds before but for anyone that hasn’t read that blog post I will briefly go over it again. Tombow pens are water soluble, so they can essential be used as watercolors. This is really easy to do. All you need is a couple of your favorite pens, a plastic sandwich bag and something to spray the bag with water. That is it!. Use the pens to add color to the bag, spray the bag with some water, and then place the bag on some watercolor paper. Let it sit until it dries, and you have a watercolor background perfect for quotes!

You can also use these pens to create doodles. It is now almost fall, so I have been all about the pumpkins lately. I used the brush tip to create these adorable little pumpkins for my October bullet journal. You can also use the background technique and wet the pen to get a more watercolor effect. Caution, these pens do smudge a little bit, so just be careful when using them!

Lastly, I use these pens to hand letter. They have a bigger tip so they can take a little bit of getting used to, but they are by far one of my favorite pens to use. Since they can act like watercolors, you can create really great graphics that use blended colors.

I hope you enjoyed learning more about Tombow Dual Brush Pens. As always, use the #unlockedcolors to let me know what you are up to on social media!
