Art Journal 101- creating content

Welcome back to Art Journaling 101.

This month’s post is going to be all about creating content for those gorgeous backgrounds we created last time. I personally think this is the hardest part about art journaling. You come up with a cute background and then have no idea what to put on it.

Luckily for you I did all of the hard work. I came up with 10 prompts to help get you started. After writing out these prompts, I noticed that a lot of them can be combined. For example, the page I did with the dried flower, was also a memory of when my husband and I said “I love you” for the first time. This is what is great about keeping an art journal, it is so flexible. You can use it as a memory keeper, a sketchbook, or even use it as a basic diary about your day.

I have a couples of example from my art journal for added inspiration!

Memory

This is the above mentioned memory of when my husband and I said I love you for the first time. Long story short, I was picking flowers and was saying "he loves me, he loves me not" at the park one day. I ended with saying "he loves me not" and said to my husband, "the flower said you don't love me". He laughed and said "well that flower is lying, I do love you!". This is one of the best memories of my life.

I love this quote. I think if more people were kind, the world would be a better place.

Doodles

If you follow me on Instagram you know I love anything to do with florals. So of course I had to showcase this in my art journal.

Have you tried art journaling yet? If you have I would love to see your pages. Use the #unlockedcolors on social media so I can see your work!

Stay tuned for next month’s post about different mediums you can use in your art journal.
